The Swiss Food Composition Database contains information on the composition of foods that are available in Switzerland.
The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office FSVO provides the data in four languages (English, German, French, Italian) and free of charge to all interested parties. The data may also be used for commercial purposes (e.g. integration into food composition calculation software or nutrition diary app) and scientific purposes, subject to acknowledgment of the source.
The current version of the Swiss Food Composition Database (V6.0) contains approximately 1,000 foods that have been classified into 19 main categories and 104 subcategories.
For almost all the foods contained in the database, complete information is presented on the macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats) as well as for water, alcohol and energy content. In addition, the content of dietary fibres and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals) as well as the composition of fats (saturated, mono-unsaturated, poly-unsaturated) are listed for the majority of generic foods.
